RAMALLAH, May 26, 2026 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa met on Tuesday in Ramallah with a British parliamentary delegation representing three major parties.
Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in light of Britain's recognition of the State of Palestine, its contributions to numerous support programs for the Palestinian people, and the resumption of funding for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
During the meeting, Mustafa gave a detailed briefing on the latest developments on the ground and Israel's accelerated efforts to undermine the two-state solution. These efforts include the escalation of settler terrorism, settlement expansion, and restrictions on the movement of Palestinians, exacerbated by the presence of approximately 930 Israeli checkpoints and gates across the West Bank.
The Prime Minister also warned of the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, caused by Israel's continued restrictions on the adequate entry of humanitarian aid, ongoing bombardments and killings of civilians, and violations of the ceasefire agreement.
He stressed the urgent need for tangible progress toward ending the humanitarian suffering, intensifying relief efforts, and providing essential services to facilitate reconstruction.
Mustafa called for increased international pressure to compel Israel to abide by international law and signed agreements, to support the political process for establishing a Palestinian state in light of relevant international resolutions, to release withheld tax revenues, and to push for new steps to liberate the Palestinian economy and end Israel's control over Palestinian tax revenues.
For their part, the British MPs praised the meeting and said the discussions and information shared would be conveyed to colleagues in the British Parliament and political parties. They reiterated their country's support for the establishment of a Palestinian state and the development of its institutions, and their rejection of all unilateral Israeli practices and violations that contravene international law and agreements.
