OIC condemns Israeli plan for Jewish school in Sheikh Jarrah

JEDDAH, April 25, 2026 (WAFA) – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation strongly condemned Israel’s approval of a plan to build a Jewish school in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of occupied Jerusalem.

In a statement, the organization said the move is part of a broader policy aimed at altering the city’s demographic, geographic, cultural, and historical character, warning that it could fuel a religious conflict with unpredictable consequences for the region and beyond.

The OIC also cautioned against the continuation of Israeli policies involving settlement expansion, displacement, land confiscation, and demolition of property, as well as attempts to change the historical and legal status of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, describing these actions as a clear violation of international law and relevant UN resolutions.

It reiterated that Israel, the occupying power, has no sovereignty over Jerusalem and its holy sites, and called on the international community to take necessary measures to pressure Israel to halt what it described as illegal actions and ongoing violations against the Palestinian people, their land, and their holy sites.
