A recent poll shows unprecedented decline in Israel’s image among Americans

WASHINGTON, 4 October 2026 (WAFA) - A recent poll released by the Pew Research Center showed a shift in American public opinion toward Israel, with negative views becoming the majority for the first time in years.

According to the poll results, around 60% of Americans said they hold a negative view of Israel, compared to 37% who expressed a positive view, marking a clear change from 2022, when the results showed a higher level of positive opinions.

The poll indicated that a majority in both political parties, especially among those under the age of 50, now view Israel and Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, negatively.

The data showed that Americans aged between 18 and 49 are the most critical of Israel, compared to older age groups that still tend to hold more supportive positions.

On the political level, the results revealed a clear divide between the two parties, with negative views rising significantly among Democrats, while Republicans remain more positive.
