RAMALLAH, March 30, 2026 (WAFA) – Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said Israeli police's barring of the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulchre to celebrate Palm Sunday Mass was a violation of the status quo of the holy sites in Jerusalem.
In a post on X, he expressed his disappointment with Israel's decision to prevent Pizzaballa from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, affirming that such measures violate the long-standing status quo of the holy sites in Jerusalem.
Carney emphasized the need to ensure that followers of all faiths in Jerusalem are able to practice their religious rituals "fully, freely, and without fear."
