OIC Media Chief condemns Al-Aqsa closure, calls for intensified coverage

RAMALLAH, March 30, 2026 (WAFA) – The head of the Islamic Cooperation Organization's Radio and Television Union, Amr El-Leithy, said Monday that the closure of Al-Aqsa Mosque for more than 30 days constitutes a blatant attack, not only on Palestinians but on all Muslims worldwide, given the mosque's immense religious and historical significance.

In a statement, El-Leithy added that the situation in Jerusalem necessitates urgent action at all levels, calling on Arab and Islamic media outlets to intensify coverage and shed light on ongoing violations against the holy city.

He called for a unified media discourse that serves the Palestinian cause, focusing on conveying the suffering of Jerusalemites and exposing the policies of restrictions and closures aimed at displacing residents and imposing a new reality in the city.

El-Leithy also highlighted the importance of utilizing digital platforms and social media to communicate the situation globally and counter Israeli narratives. He affirmed that the battle today is not only on the ground but also in shaping  international awareness and  public opinion.
