RAMALLAH, March 25, 2026 (WAFA) – The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed the report issued by Francesca Albanese, the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, entitled “Torture and Genocide.”
In a statement, the General Secretariat emphasized the gravity of the report’s findings, which legally document the Israeli occupation’s systematic, deliberate, and widespread use of torture as part of its ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people, particularly Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons.
The report highlighted practices including dehumanization, physical torture, psychological terror, sexual violence and rape, collective punishment, and starvation, as well as through crimes of forced displacement, siege, destruction of infrastructure, denial of humanitarian aid and food, and other measures and practices that amount to war crimes and genocide under international criminal law.
The General Secretariat reiterated its support for the important role played by the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, calling on the international community to assume its legal, political and moral responsibilities to implement the report’s recommendations, work to dismantle the apartheid regime, end the colonial occupation, put an end to all the ongoing crimes and violations committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people, criminalize them and ensure accountability and no impunity.
