CAIRO, March 22, 2026 (WAFA) - The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned recent attacks by Israeli colonists in several villages and towns in the northern West Bank.
A ministry statement on Sunday highlighted assaults in Silat al-Dhahr and Fanduqoumiya, south of Jenin, and Qaryut south of Nablus, carried out under the protection of Israeli forces.
The ministry termed such actions as a clear violation of international law and stressed the need to hold perpetrators accountable.
The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its concern over the escalating violence carried out by colonists since the start of the current escalation, noting that this reflects a systematic plan to alter the existing situation and impose a policy of fait accompli, particularly amid attempts to divert attention from the blatant violations occurring in the West Bank.
The statement affirmed that these practices constitute a clear violation of international legitimacy resolutions, foremost among them Security Council Resolution 2334, and contradict the advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice regarding the illegality of the occupation, colonization, and related measures.
Egypt called on the international community to assume its responsibilities, protect Palestinian civilians, and ensure accountability for those responsible for such crimes.
Cairo also urged an end to escalation and a return to calm, paving the way for a just and comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian issue.
