RAMALLAH, March 18, 2026 (WAFA) – The Higher Committee for Follow-Up on the Situation of the Palestinian People in Lebanon, formed by the Palestinian leadership and headed by Vice President Hussein Al-Sheikh, held a meeting on Wednesday evening in Ramallah with the participation of Prime Minister Muhammad Mustafa and committee members. The meeting was held within the framework of monitoring the conditions of the Palestinian people among refugees in Lebanon amid the ongoing Israeli aggression affecting Palestinians in refugeecamps.
The committee received detailed briefings from relevant officials on the situation, including the evacuation orders issued by Israeli occupation forces for residents of the Rashidiyya, Burj al-Barajneh, and El Buss camps, as well as the attacks targeting the Al-Qasmiyeh, Al-Barghuliya, Al-Shabriha communities, and others.
The committee affirmed that, in accordance with direct instructions from President Mahmoud Abbas, the relevant authorities will provide all forms of support and assistance to alleviate the suffering of our people in Lebanon, in coordination with the Palestinian Refugee Affairs Department of the Palestine Liberation Organization, the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Lebanon, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, UNRWA, the Lebanese state, and all active institutions and frameworks operating in the Lebanese arena.
The committee agreed to immediately initiate contacts with all concerned parties to ensure the protection of our people and mitigate their suffering. It also decided to form a special committee to follow up on the ongoing situation and maintain a permanent session to monitor developments.
The committee expressed its appreciation to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and all UN institutions for their efforts in this regard.
