RAMALLAH, March 5, 2026 (WAFA) – Regional escalation continued to intensify for the sixth straight day of the war that erupted after the joint U.S.-Israeli attack on Iran, with heavy exchange of strikes reported between the two sides.
Earlier today, massive explosions heard in western and northwestern Tehran, prompting Iran to activate its air defenses, according to local media reports. Explosions were also reported in several other Iranian cities, including Bandar Abbas on the Gulf coast and Tabriz in the northwest.
The Iranian Red Crescent announced that the US-Israeli airstrikes resulted in the killing of 49 civilians of Iran’s West Azerbaijan province. Iran’s Health Ministry said late Wednesday that 926 people have been killed and more than 6,186 injured since the conflict began on Saturday morning, amid ongoing air raids targeting multiple cities across the country.
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded in several areas, including greater Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and southern areas inside the 1948 territories. Israeli media reported that missile shrapnel fell near Ben Gurion Airport, close to Tel Aviv, just hours after the airport had partially resumed operations to facilitate evacuation flights for stranded travelers.
Passengers were reportedly evacuated from an aircraft at Ben Gurion Airport during the latest warning from Iran.
Rockets were also fired from Lebanon simultaneously, as Iran lunched a barrage of missiles toward Israel, resulting in two explosions heard over Tel Aviv. A rocket reportedly landed in an open area, but its exact impact location was not specified.
In Lebanon, two civilians were killed and two others wounded on Thursday in an Israeli airstrike targeting a vehicle on the Zahle-Karak road in the Bekaa Valley in eastern Lebanon.
Lebanese sources also reported that Israeli army launched two airstrikes on the towns of Mayfadoun and Roumine, and the vicinity of the town of Kfar Remman in southern Lebanon.
In the Arabian Gulf, air defense interceptions were heard Thursday morning over the Qatari capital, Doha. Bahrain also announced that it has destroyed 75 missiles and 123 drones targeting its territory since Saturday.
