Japan calls on Israel to halt settlement activities in the occupied West Bank

TOKYO, February 11, 2026 (WAFA) – Japan has called on the Israeli occupation authorities to halt their settlement activities in the West Bank.

In a press statement, Japanese Foreign Ministry spokesperson KITAMURA Toshihiro expressed "Japan's concern regarding Israel's decision to expand its control over the West Bank."

He added, "We regret the Israeli government's continued unilateral actions, including settlement activities, despite repeated calls from the international community to cease them."

The statement urged Israel to take immediate measures to prevent colonist violence," emphasizing the need to avoid any actions that could escalate tensions amidst ongoing international efforts to stabilize the region surrounding the Gaza Strip.

It noted that settlement activities violate international law and undermine the implementation of the two-state solution.

The statement affirmed that Japan will continue its diplomatic efforts, in cooperation with the international community, to urge the Israeli government to halt its settlement activities.
