Vice President says frenzied Israeli campaign threatens UNRWA humanitarian work in Palestine

RAMALLAH, January 29, 2026 (WAFA) - Vice President and Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Hussein al-Sheikh, said that the frenzied Israeli campaign against UNRWA institutions in Palestine threatens to halt their humanitarian work for large segments of the Palestinian population.

In a post on X., the Vice President said, “We appreciate the positions of many countries that have condemned this campaign and demanded that Israel immediately cease its actions.”

“We call upon all other brotherly and friendly nations to take firm stances and measures against the Israeli government, which continues its occupation practices of demolition, destruction, settler terrorism, confiscation of funds, continued settlement activity, land confiscation, and torture of prisoners, in blatant defiance of international norms, laws, resolutions of international legitimacy, and the decisions of humanitarian and human rights organizations,” he added.

“The world must yell at the occupying government, saying, 'Enough!" No more appeasement or favoritism towards this occupation,” said the Vice President.
