MOSCOW, 22 January 2026 (WAFA) – The General Supervisor of Official Media, Minister Ahmad Assaf, signed on Thursday two cooperation agreements with Russia Today (RT) news network and Sputnik news agency, aimed at enhancing joint media and news exchange.

Minister Assaf signed the agreements during a visit to the headquarters of Russia Today and Sputnik in Moscow, where he met with a number of officials and media personnel from both institutions.

The agreements are intended to strengthen media cooperation and news exchange, produce joint radio and digital programs addressing current issues, and exchange expertise and knowledge between the two sides, paving the way for upgrading media and journalistic performance.

On the sidelines of the event, Minister Assaf met with several officials and employees of Russia Today and Sputnik, briefing them on the latest political developments in the Palestinian territories, particularly in the Gaza Strip. He outlined the efforts undertaken by the Palestinian leadership, represented by President Mahmoud Abbas, to consolidate the Gaza ceasefire, end the suffering of the Palestinian people, and halt both Israeli settler-colonialism and colonist attacks in the West Bank, including Jerusalem.

He revealed that Israeli occupation forces have killed approximately 260 Palestinian journalists and media personnel in the West Bank and Gaza since October 2023.
