PM Mustafa meets President of UN General Assembly on the sidelines of the Davos Economic Forum

Prime Minister: The true solution to the Palestinian cause lies in ending the occupation and implementing the two-state solution

DAVOS, January 20, 2026 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa stressed, during his meeting with President of the United Nations General Assembly Annalena Baerbock, that the true solution to the Palestinian cause lies in ending the occupation and implementing the two-state solution, and in moving from temporary arrangements in the Gaza Strip toward a clear political and economic path that ensures stability, reconstruction, and the unification of Palestinian institutions under one system, one law, and one legitimate weapon.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum held in Davos on Tuesday, in the presence of Palestine's ambassador to Switzerland and envoy to the UN in Geneva, Ibrahim Khraishi.

PM Mustafa and Baerbock discussed political developments, the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, and the accelerating deterioration in the West Bank. Mustafa warned of the serious danger posed by the occupation’s continued withholding of Palestinian tax revenues, noting the devastating impact this has on the economy and on the government’s ability to carry out its duties and meet its obligations toward the Palestinian people.

The Prime Minister stressed the need for urgent action by the United Nations to guarantee Palestinian rights and support the resilience of national institutions, as well as to enable and strengthen the role of UN institutions in the coming phase.

For her part, Baerbock affirmed the importance of enhancing joint cooperation between UN institutions and the State of Palestine, protecting and supporting UNRWA, and intensifying international efforts to ensure the consolidation of the ceasefire and the implementation of relevant UN resolutions on the Palestinian cause.
