RAMALLAH, January 6, 2026 (WAFA) – Activists launched a campaign calling for the cancellation of a theatrical performance by American comedian Jerry Seinfeld, scheduled to take place in Aurora, Illinois, due to his support for Israel and the Israeli military during the aggression against the Gaza Strip.
The campaign pointed out that Seinfeld visited Israel in 2018 with his family and participated in activities at an Israeli army recreation camp. Photos circulated at the time showed Seinfeld and family members holding automatic weapons and participating in military-style training and simulations, which organizers described as a form of “normalization of violence.”
The organizers added that Seinfeld and his wife, Jessica, donated $5,000 in 2024 to support pro-Israel counter-demonstrations at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), arguing that this contributed to inciting violence against a student sit-in in support of Palestine.
Accordingly, the campaign called on cultural institutions, most notably the Paramount Theatre, not to give platforms to artists seen as supporters of apartheid and military policies accused of committing war crimes, and urged the public to contact the theatre's management and participate in the campaign widely.
