RAMALLAH, December 30, 2025 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas expressed gratitude to Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune for Algeria’s continued support of the Palestinian people and their just cause.
President Abbas sent a telegram to his Algerian counterpart on the occasion of Algeria’s fourth term as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, representing the Arab group. In the message, the president stressed that Algeria set a commendable example recognized globally, demonstrating experience, wisdom, respect for values, justice, and equality, and successfully achieved the objectives of this important diplomatic post, with the Palestinian cause remaining a top priority.
President Abbas added that, on behalf of the State and people of Palestine and personally, he conveys profound thanks and appreciation to the Algerian president, the government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Algeria’s permanent mission to the United Nations.
The President highlighted the efforts of Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf and Ambassador of Algeria and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Amar Bendjama, who, under the guidance of the Algerian president, exerted tireless effort, demonstrated professional dedication, and provided just and steadfast support for the Palestinian cause and people during one of the most challenging periods, amid the brutal war on the Gaza Strip and ongoing attacks on Palestinians in the cities and villages of the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem.
President Abbas stressed that such support is consistent with Algeria’s longstanding leadership and the solidarity of its brotherly people, who have championed the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights across all spheres and throughout every stage of their struggle.
The President highlighted Algeria’s authentic and fraternal role in uniting the Palestinian people, hosting Palestinian factions, and convening national councils where the Palestine Liberation Organization declared the independence of the State of Palestine.
President Abbas also underscored Algeria’s financial contributions, which have bolstered the resilience of the Palestinian people and their national institutions under the most challenging circumstances.
In conclusion, President Abbas reiterated his gratitude and appreciation, praying for the health and well-being of the Algerian president, and wishing the people and government of Algeria continued security, stability, and sustained progress and prosperity.
