Israeli municipality approves budget for new tunnel project south of Jerusalem

JERUSALEM, December 25, 2025 (WAFA) – The Israeli municipality in Jerusalem has approved the allocation of a budget allocation estimated at 10 million shekels for the construction of a new tunnel in the Wadi al-Daraja area, south of occupied Jerusalem.

The Jerusalem Governorate said that the project aims to connect the Har Homa settlement, built on Jabal Abu Ghneim land, to the Begin bypass road near Beit Safafa.

The project is located in Wadi al-Daraja, which separates several Palestinian villages south of Jerusalem, most notably Sur Baher and Umm Tuba.
