ROME, December 13, 2025 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas of the State of Palestine met on Saturday with Secretary-General of the Italian Communist Party Maurizio Acerbo at his residence in the Italian capital, Rome.
During the meeting, President Abbas discussed the overall political developments in the Palestinian arena, particularly ongoing efforts to consolidate the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
He also stressed the importance of halting unilateral Israeli measures in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, which undermine the implementation of the two-state solution.
The President emphasized the deep relations of friendship and cooperation between Palestine and Italy and their peoples, based on mutual respect. He renewed his appreciation to Italy for its supportive positions toward the Palestinian people in their pursuit of freedom and independence and in building the institutions of the State of Palestine.
President Abbas was accompanied by PLO Executive Committee member Ziad Abu Amr, Presidential Advisor for Diplomatic Affairs Majdi Khaldi, and Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Italy Mona Abuamara.
