NEW YORK, December 13, 2025 (WAFA) – The United Nations announced that Israel has displaced more than 1,000 Palestinians in the West Bank since the beginning of this year, specifically in area classified as Area C.
Speaking at a press conference, UN Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq affirmed that, "Based on UN data, more than 1,000 people have been displaced in Area C, which comprises approximately 60 percent of the West Bank, as a result of home demolitions carried out since the start of the year.
He added that attacks by the Israeli army and colonists in the West Bank have escalated over the past two years, coinciding with the war on Gaza, where a ceasefire came into effect on October 11th.
He further emphasized that most of the displaced Palestinians had their homes demolished under the pretext of lacking building permits, noting that this level of displacement represents the second highest annual rate recorded since 2009.
Israeli authorities frequently carry out demolitions of Palestinian homes and buildings in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, claiming they were built without permits.
Official data said that Israeli authorities severely restrict Palestinians construction and agriculture activity in Area C, while obtaining building permits for Palestinians there is almost impossible.
