RAMALLAH, December 5, 2025 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Presidency strongly warned today about the severe and brutal violations faced by Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, which form a direct assault on their dignity and a threat to their lives, in blatant violation of international laws and conventions, including the four Geneva Conventions.
The Presidency specifically condemned the continuous attacks and retaliatory measures against imprisoned leader Marwan Barghouti, a member of the Fatah Central Committee, holding the Israeli government fully responsible for his safety and the safety of all Palestinian prisoners.
It stressed that the ongoing violations against prisoners constitute a war crime, reflecting a systematic Israeli policy aimed at torturing Palestinian detainees, attempting to break their will and punish them collectively.
The Presidency called on the international community, human rights organizations, and the International Committee of the Red Cross to take immediate action, urging them to fulfill their legal and humanitarian responsibilities, pressuring the Israeli government to halt these violations and ensure the international protection of prisoners.
It reiterated its commitment to securing the release of all prisoners, particularly leader Marwan Barghouti.
