RAMALLAH, December 2, 2025 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa on Tuesday met at his office in Ramallah with Japanese Special Assistant to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Ambassador in charge of Gaza Rebuilding Assistance Takeshi Okubo, during which they discussed ways to enhance cooperation, coordinate efforts, and advance joint action to implement the recovery and reconstruction plan for the Gaza Strip and its executive programs.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Social Development Samah Hamad, Deputy Minister Of Foreign Affairs For Political Affairs Omar Awadallah, and Japan’s Ambassador to Palestine Araiki Katsuhiko.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of working through a single plan, namely the Arab recovery and reconstruction plan, which has been adopted at the Islamic level and enjoys European and broader international support through the New York Declaration, and of pursuing genuine and serious coordination with the State of Palestine and its institutions, in line with the State of Palestine’s mandate over the Gaza Strip.
The Prime Minister stressed that there is no alternative to the official institutions of the State of Palestine in the Gaza Strip, and that work there cannot proceed in isolation from the proper political track, within the framework of the two-state solution and the realization of an independent Palestinian state under one system, one government, one law, and one legitimate authority over arms.
Mustafa also reviewed the situation on the ground in the West Bank amid the ongoing aggression by the occupation army and colonists, including incursions into camps in the northern West Bank, as well as the continued suspension of Palestinian tax revenue transfers for the seventh consecutive month.
The Prime Minister expressed appreciation for Japan’s continued support for Palestine and its people at all levels, emphasizing that the appointment of an assistant foreign minister for Gaza reconstruction carries a special message and significance amid the difficult circumstances facing the Palestinian cause.
He affirmed that all necessary facilitation would be provided to ensure the success of Okubo’s mission.
