GAZA, December 2, 2025 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Red Crescent Society announced on Tuesday the opening of a medical rehabilitation hospital for injured and sick individuals of all ages and disabilities in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip.
The hospital has a capacity of 100 beds, which can be expanded, thus accommodating the increasing number of cases requiring specialized rehabilitation services.
The hospital was inaugurated today in the presence of a delegation from the World Health Organization (WHO), headed by Luca Bigozzi, who expressed his readiness to provide further support to enhance rehabilitation services in the Gaza Strip.
Haider Al-Qudra, Executive Director of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society in the southern governorates, noted that the hospital's opening is a necessary step given the growing need for these services, especially considering the limited number of facilities operating in this field within the Gaza Strip.
Al-Qudra affirmed that the hospital's establishment was decided upon by the Society's President, Younis Al-Khatib, in response to the urgent need for such services and the importance of rehabilitation as an integral part of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society's mission and its role towards people with disabilities.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society fully covered the costs of constructing the hospital, while the World Health Organization (WHO) contributed by providing equipment, furniture, and a number of beds.
The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Palestinian Red Crescent Society headquarters in the West Bank contributed to providing assistive devices for patients, which will play a vital role in supporting them after their discharge from the hospital. This will enhance their ability to complete their recovery journey and improve the hospital's operational readiness.
This hospital represents a significant addition to the healthcare system in the Gaza Strip and a crucial pillar for providing advanced rehabilitation services amidst the difficult humanitarian conditions in the Strip.
