GENEVA, November 28, 2025 (WAFA) – The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) expressed its deep dismay at the brazen killing carried out yesterday by Israeli forces against two Palestinian men in Jenin, in the occupied Palestinian Territory, in what appears to be a summary execution (the deliberate killing of individuals outside any legal framework).
Speaking at a press conference in Geneva on Friday, OHCHR spokesperson Jeremy Laurence stressed that statements by a senior Israeli government official seeking to absolve Israeli security forces of responsibility raise serious concerns about the credibility of any future review or investigation conducted by anybody that is not fully independent of the government.
Laurence said the killings of Palestinians by Israeli occupation forces and Israeli colonists in the occupied West Bank are increasing without accountability, even in the rare cases where investigations are announced.
He added that OHCHR has verified that Israeli occupation forces and colonists have killed 1,030 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, since October 2023, among them 223 children.
He said impunity for the unlawful use of force by Israeli security forces and the steadily rising violence by Israeli colonists must end. Laurence noted that UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk is urging swift, independent and effective investigations into the killings of Palestinians, and full accountability for those responsible for violations.
