PARIS, November 12, 2025 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas met today in the French capital, Paris, with Speaker of the French National Assembly Yaël Braun-Pivet, along with several members of parliament and representatives of various political parties.
During the meeting, President Abbas discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, particularly in light of France’s recognition of the State of Palestine, and reviewed the latest political developments and the situation on the ground in the occupied Palestinian Territory.
The President emphasized the importance of strengthening the longstanding relations between the Palestinian and French peoples and stepping up efforts to mobilize international support to end the war in the Gaza Strip, halt all actions undermining the two-state solution, and establish the foundations for a lasting peace in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.
The President reaffirmed the State of Palestine’s commitment to implementing all reform programs pledged to the international conference co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia.
President Abbas arrived in Paris on Monday for an official visit, marking his first trip since France’s formal recognition of the State of Palestine on September 22, 2025.
President Abbas was received by French Minister of the Interior Laurent Nuñez. He reviewed the honor guard assembled to welcome him and was greeted with the Palestinian and French national anthems.
The President is accompanied by PLO Executive Committee member Ziad Abu Amro, Presidential Diplomatic Adviser Majdi Al-Khalidi, and Palestinian Ambassador to France Hala Abu Hassira.
