CAIRO, November 2, 2025 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas met with Colombian President Gustavo Petro at his residence in Cairo on Sunday, on the sidelines of his visit to Egypt to attend the inauguration ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum.
President Abbas thanked his Colombian counterpart for his courage, principled stance, and Colombia’s consistent support for the Palestinian cause and people in all international forums, reflecting the country’s commitment to international law and the right of all peoples to self-determination.
He reaffirmed Palestine’s commitment to strengthening Palestinian-Colombian relations across various fields and expressed appreciation for Colombia’s willingness to provide humanitarian and reconstruction assistance to the Palestinian people.
During the meeting, President Petro reiterated Colombia’s support for the ceasefire, the release of all prisoners and hostages, the delivery of humanitarian aid, and the achievement of comprehensive peace that guarantees the Palestinian people’s freedom and independence.
