CAIRO, November 1, 2025 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas attended the grand opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum on Saturday evening alongside Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, several world leaders, and prominent figures from around the globe.
In remarks on the sidelines of the event, President Abbas praised Egypt’s rich history, which has offered humanity one of the oldest and most remarkable civilizations. He said the Grand Egyptian Museum represents a new global landmark that reflects the magnificence of Egypt’s heritage and its leading role in culture, history, and humanity.
The President expressed his deep appreciation to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and to the Egyptian people for their tremendous efforts in completing this exceptional cultural project, describing it as Egypt’s gift to the world and a source of pride for all Arabs.
President Abbas noted that this historic inauguration embodies Egypt’s strong will to preserve its heritage, build a prosperous present, and shape a bright future. He reaffirmed the deep fraternal ties between the Palestinian and Egyptian peoples and emphasized Palestine’s keenness to strengthen cooperation with Egypt in various fields.
