Occupation forces issue demolition notice against school near Hebron

HEBRON, September 11, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces (IOF) issued a demolition notice on Thursday against Al-Zweidin Secondary School, south of Hebron, east of Yatta town.

Head of the village council, Saeed Ta'imat, told WAFA that the IOF posted a demolition notice on the school's doors, noting that the school serves a large number of Bedouin communities and has a student population of more than 120.

He pointed out that this demolition notice came in response to the wishes of the extremist colonialist organization Regavim, which called on the occupation authorities to demolish the school about a month ago to achieve colonial goals.

Ta'imat pointed out that members of the so-called extremist colonialist organization Regavim posted provocative leaflets on the school's walls about a month ago calling on the occupation government to halt work and demolish the school.

The IOF claimed that keeping the school, as part of the infrastructure, would encourage Palestinians to build and remain in the area.

Regavim, an extremist organization founded in 2006, is headed by the extremist Israeli Finance Minister Smotrich. It is a far-right organization that seeks to create so-called "legal channels for implementing demolition orders issued by the Israeli authorities against Palestinian homes and facilities."

Regavim's work is concentrated in the occupied Negev and expands to include all Palestinian territories, particularly Area C, which constitutes 60% of the occupied West Bank.

The organization has free access to geographic and demographic information about the area with a permit from the Civil Administration. It uses geographic information systems and conducts detailed aerial photography to document Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories.
