RAMALLAH, May 25, 2025 (WAFA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed the decision taken by the Berlin branch of Germany’s Social Democratic Party (SPD) to adopt a resolution urging the German government to recognize the State of Palestine.
Palestine’s Ambassador to Germany, Laith Arafa, described the resolution as unprecedented, reflecting growing global solidarity with the Palestinian cause and signaling a strategic shift in international positions toward the Israeli occupation in light of its ongoing crimes.
Arafa urged the German government to adopt the resolution and align its position with its recommendations, following the example of countries such as France, the United Kingdom, and Canada, as well as recent steps taken by Spain, Ireland, Slovenia, and Norway.
On Saturday, the SPD voted in favor of recognizing the State of Palestine based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
