Israeli authorities demolish agricultural structure, detain owner in Tamra

TAMRA, April 27, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli authorities demolished an agricultural structure early Sunday morning in the Palestinian town of Tamra, located within the 1948 territory, without prior notice and detained its owner, according to local sources.

The demolished structure belonged to Mohammad Hjeirat, a resident of Tamra. Israeli police forces detained him during the demolition.

The Hjeirat family reported that Mohammad's sons, Ezzedine and Khair Hjeirat, were violently assaulted by Israeli police officers during the demolition. They were brutally beaten and threatened at gunpoint before their father was taken into custody.

The demolished farm was built on privately owned land measuring approximately eight dunums. According to the family, they had completed nearly 80% of the legal permit procedures required for construction on the land.

Under Israeli building regulations, Palestinian citizens of Israel and Palestinians in the occupied West Bank often face significant legal and bureaucratic obstacles when attempting to obtain construction permits. In most cases, these permits are denied, leaving families with no legal alternatives for building on their own land.
