Israeli forces continue large-scale military onslaught on Jenin and its camp

RAMALLAH, April 9, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation continues its aggression against the city of Jenin and its camp for the 79th consecutive day, according to local sources.

Occupation soldiers have been firing live ammunition intensively in Jenin camp since Wednesday morning, despite the camp being empty of residents after they were forced to flee their homes. Meanwhile, occupation bulldozers continue to bulldoze streets and destroy infrastructure.

On Tuesday, a 25-year-old man was injured by Israeli occupation forces' bullets to the head in the Al-Hadaf neighborhood after Israeli soldiers stormed the neighborhood and opened fire indiscriminately.

Occupation forces also blew up a house in the center of Jenin camp yesterday, Tuesday, with columns of smoke seen rising from it.

Meanwhile, the occupation forces continue to send military reinforcements and armored vehicles into the city and camp, deploying heavy bulldozers from the Al-Jalama military checkpoint to the camp's outskirts, and deploying infantry forces in the Al-Ghabz area surrounding the camp and in the Wadi Burqin area. They are also paving and widening roads, changing the camp's landscape, and demolishing citizens' homes.

The Israeli occupation army continues its military training around the Jalameh military checkpoint, north of Jenin, and occasionally fires live ammunition around Jenin camp.

The humanitarian situation of approximately 21,000 displaced persons forcibly displaced by the occupation from their homes in Jenin camp is deteriorating, particularly as they have lost their sources of income and property and are prevented from returning.

It is estimated that 600 homes have been destroyed in the camp, while nearly 3,000 housing units have become uninhabitable.

According to the data, the economic situation of the 21,000 displaced persons represents a new reality and challenge on the humanitarian level in Jenin, increasing the poverty rate in Jenin, especially with the displacement of displaced persons who have lost their jobs and businesses.

Since the beginning of the aggression, 36 citizens have been killed in the governorate, while the occupation continues to launch widespread raids and arrests in the governorate's villages and towns on an almost daily basis.
