JERUSALEM, April 9, 2025 (WAFA) — On Wednesday, the Israeli occupation authorities forced a Jerusalemite citizen to demolish his home in the town of Beit Safafa, southeast of occupied Jerusalem.
Local sources reported that the occupation municipality forced Alaa Alian to demolish his two-story home.
The occupation authorities force citizens, particularly in Jerusalem, to demolish their homes on their own, claiming they lacked a permit. Those who refuse to do so have their homes demolished by Israeli bulldozers, imposing heavy costs on the owner.
The occupation municipality in Jerusalem refuses to grant Palestinians building permits and demolishes or forces them to demolish their homes. This practice violates international and humanitarian laws that guarantee the right to housing. It is part of the occupation's systematic practices of forcibly displacing Palestinians from Jerusalem in exchange for expanding colonies in and around the city.
