Israel continues its wide-scale offensive in Jenin and its camp

JENIN, April 8, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation continues its aggression against the city of Jenin and its camp for the 78th consecutive day,  causing massive destruction to infrastructure and local proprieties.

Earlier yesterday, Israeli occupation forces detained a nursing student from Jenin while she was in front of Jenin Governmental Hospital. They also detained a young man and his mother from the vicinity of Jenin Camp.

Occupation forces further prevented Palestinians from reaching the Al-Zahraa neighborhood, near Jenin Hospital and adjacent to Jenin Camp, and detained anyone who approached the area.

Meanwhile, the occupation forces continue to send military reinforcements, armored vehicles, and D10 bulldozers into the city and camp from the Al-Jalama military checkpoint. They also deploy infantry forces in the Al-Ghabz area surrounding the camp and in the Wadi Burqin area.

The Israeli occupation army continues its military training around the Jalameh military checkpoint, north of Jenin, firing live ammunition in the vicinity of the empty Jenin refugee camp.

The humanitarian situation of approximately 21,000 displaced persons forcibly displaced by the occupation from their homes in Jenin refugee camp is deteriorating, particularly as they have lost their sources of income and property and are prevented from returning.

It is estimated that 600 homes have been destroyed in the camp, while nearly 3,000 housing units have become uninhabitable.

According to the data, the economic situation of the 21,000 displaced persons represents a new reality and challenge on the humanitarian level in Jenin, increasing the poverty rate, especially with the displaced persons losing their jobs and businesses.

The number of Palestinians who have been killed  in the governorate has risen to 36, while the occupation continues to launch widespread raids and detentions in the governorate's villages and towns on an almost daily basis.
