RAMALLAH, April 7, 2024 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces Monday demolished a Palestinian home in the al-Gharasat area, southeast of the town of Far'un, south of Tulkarm, according to a local official.
Ahmad Darwish, a member of the Far'un municipality, told WAFA that they were completely surprised this morning by Israeli occupation forces and heavy bulldozers storming the town toward the house.
The occupation forces informed the owner of the house, Samer Masoud Khalil, that he had to leave and gave him only half an hour to evacuate, noting that residents rushed to help him in evacuating his house.
He added that the Israeli occupation bulldozers completely demolished the house, which consisted of a ground floor housing seven people. The house was built more than 10 years ago and was located approximately 100 meters from the apartheid wall built on the town's lands.
Darwish noted that his owner received a stop-work notice in 2016, along with several other homes and facilities in the area. The case was pursued legally through lawyers from the 1948 territories and through the Palestinian Legal Aid Center in Jerusalem. However, he was surprised this morning by the demolition of two Israeli bulldozers, escorted by Israeli vehicles, despite the lack of any new notice.
He emphasized that this is the second demolition in one month in the same area. On March 10, the occupation authorities demolished a ground floor building, constructed in 1990, belonging to Abdul Hamid Mustafa Shalabi from Tulkarm.
Darwish went on to say that this demolition is part of the occupation's ongoing policy of restricting Palestinians and imposing a new reality in areas near the apartheid wall.
