Israeli forces demolish sheds and solar panel rooms in Jordan Valley village

JERICHO, March 18, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces Tuesday demolished sheds and solar panel rooms in Arab al-Mlaihat village, northwest of the occupied West Bank city of Jericho, according to a local activist.

Hassan Mlaihat, the general supervisor of the Al-Baidar Organization for the Defense of Bedouin Rights, told WAFA that the occupation authorities along with representatives of the Colonies Council and colonists escorted bulldozers into the village and tore down two sheds belonging to Jamal Mlaihat.

He added that Israeli bulldozers also tore down facilities used to supply electricity to the village in the presence of an official from the nearby colony of Mevo’ot Jericho.

According to the Applied Research Institute of Jerusalem (ARIJ), the Arab al-Mlaihat come originally from Negev; people of this area were forcefully expelled to live in different places of the West Bank due to their nomadic nature.  In the mid-eighties, people of al-Mlaihat were sent out from the al-Irqa area to Maghair al-Dair, which is only 7km away from it, claiming the area a military closed zone by Israel.
