GAZA, March 5, 2025 (WAFA) – The death toll arising from the Israeli genocidal aggression on the Gaza Strip surged to 48,440 people, medical sources said on Wednesday.

They announced that the death toll and the toll of casualties as a result of the Israeli genocidal offensive on the war-torn Strip rose to 48,440 and 111,845 respectively.

They added that only within the last 24 hours, 35 bodies, including 30 bodies retrieved from the rubble, and 10 casualties were admitted to hospitals in the Strip.

Approximately 11,000 people are unaccounted for, presumed dead under the rubble of their homes throughout the Strip.

Israel, the occupying power, waged a devastating war on Gaza during the period from October 7, 2023 until January 19, 2025, when the Gaza ceasefire agreement went into force, killing 48,440 Palestinians, including 17,581 minors and 12,048 women, causing the total population of the Strip to drop by 6% by the end of 2024.

The Israeli genocidal aggression displaced over 1.93 million Palestinians in the Strip following the destruction of their houses and residences, accounting for more than 85% of the total population and forced approximately 100,000 Palestinians to leave the Strip since the beginning of the aggression  – in what has become Palestine’s largest mass exodus since the 1948 Nakba.
