OSLO, February 8, 2024 (WAFA) – Norway has announced its rejection of any displacement of Palestinians from their lands, stressing that this is contrary to international law.
Norwegian Deputy Foreign Minister Andreas Kravik said in a press statement last night that Palestine is the homeland of the Palestinian people.
Kravik stressed that "the Palestinian people have a fundamental and independent right to self-determination and the establishment of their own state."
He pointed out that this right forms the basis of the 1947 UN Partition Plan, which later led to Norway and other countries recognizing Israel in 1949.
He explained that this position on the Palestinians' right to establish their state has been confirmed by various UN resolutions, as well as by the International Court of Justice.
The Norwegian Deputy Foreign Minister stressed that "forcibly sending Palestinians from the occupied territories to other countries is contrary to international law."
