BERLIN, February 7, 2025 (WAFA) – German Chancellor Olaf Scholz Friday voiced his firm rejection of US President Donald Trump’s proposal to take over the Gaza Strip and forcibly displace its population.
“I completely reject what President Trump has put on the table,” Scholz said during a campaign event in Ludwigsburg. “The population of Gaza must not be resettled in Egypt and Jordan. This is not right,” he emphasized.
US President Donald Trump proposed to forcibly displace Palestinians from the Gaza Strip and take over the enclave which was under Israeli genocidal assault since October 2023.
Trump said during a press conference in Washington with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu late on Tuesday that the US “will take over” Gaza after relocating Palestinians elsewhere under an extraordinary redevelopment plan that he claimed could turn the enclave into “the Riviera of the Middle East.”
Trump’s proposal came after the ceasefire agreement took effect in Gaza on January 19, pausing Israel’s genocidal assault on the enclave which has killed 47,583 Palestinians and injured 111,663, according to Palestinian Health Ministry.
