MALÉ, February 7, 2025 (WAFA) – The government of the Republic of Maldives has reiterated its unwavering and steadfast support for the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions and international law.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Maldives expressed its strong rejection of any policies or actions that undermine the prospects for peace in the region. This includes the ongoing expansion of colonies, the annexation of Palestinian territories and any attempts to forcibly displace the residents of Gaza.

Furthermore, the Maldives reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Palestine's bid for full membership in the United Nations.

The Maldivian government called on the international community to take all necessary measures to uphold international law and protect the rights of the Palestinian people, emphasizing that a political solution remains the only viable path toward achieving lasting peace.
