Lebanon reaffirms its stance against forced displacement of Palestinians

BEIRUT, February 7, 2025 (WAFA) – Lebanon has strongly condemned any attempts to seize Palestinian land and forcibly displace its people, asserting that such actions are an attempt to liquidate the Palestinian cause and undermine the right of Palestinian refugees to return.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants expressed deep concern over the ongoing plans to forcibly displace and uproot the Palestinian people from their land, which is a historical and legal right for Palestinians, in accordance with the relevant international resolutions.

The ministry also reiterated its firm objection to any infringement on the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.

The Lebanese government underscored that any endeavor to forcibly seize Palestinian lands and forcefully expel their inhabitants represents an attempt to liquidate the Palestinian cause and undermine the right of return for Palestinian refugees, especially those residing in Lebanon.

Such actions, the ministry declared, constitute a flagrant violation of international law, humanitarian law, human rights charters and the Lebanese constitution.

Lebanon reaffirmed its commitment to international legitimacy and the fundamental right of every individual to live with dignity within their homeland's borders.

The statement concluded by reiterating Lebanon's call for the international community to take swift and concrete action toward implementing the two-state solution, as the only viable resolution to ensure the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights and to alleviate the severe humanitarian crisis they have endured for decades.

It also called for putting an end to the ongoing cycle of violence and instability that continues to plague the region.
