PM Mustafa briefs Greek Foreign Minister on latest developments in Palestine

RAMALLAH, February 3, 2025 (WAFA) – Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Mohammed Mustafa, met with the Greek Foreign Minister, Giorgos Gerapetritis, at his office in Ramallah, where they discussed the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian Territory, particularly in light of the escalating Israeli aggression and military measures in the West Bank.

Mustafa briefed the Greek official on the escalated Israeli measures that have notably intensified in northern West Bank governorates and refugee camps, resulting in widespread destruction of infrastructure, homes and facilities, as well as the forced displacement of Palestinian residents.

Mustafa also highlighted the severe restrictions on movement between Palestinian cities, towns and villages, alongside the ongoing efforts by the Palestinian government to provide emergency relief to the people of Gaza.

Prime Minister Mustafa praised Greece for its humanitarian support to Gaza and its financial contributions to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), underscoring the deep friendship between the two nations.

Mustafa further emphasized the critical role Greece is playing as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, urging Greece to exert pressure for the implementation of international resolutions on Palestine, including UN Resolution 2735, which calls for a complete cessation of Israeli aggression, an end to the occupation and the realization of Palestinian statehood.

He commended Greece’s consistent support for Palestine at various international forums, calling on Greece to support the Palestinian bid for full UN membership.

The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of international pressure on Israel to ensure a permanent and sustainable ceasefire and the cessation of its occupation of Palestinian territories.

He affirmed the Palestinian government’s full preparedness to implement its relief plans and emergency response measures for Gaza, with a focus on reconstruction efforts.

In addition, the two officials discussed strengthening bilateral relations, the importance of convening the Joint Governmental Committee and the continuation of political consultations between their two countries.
