Jordan's PM reaffirms his country's unwavering stance on Palestinian issue

AMMAN, January 26, 2025 (WAFA) -  Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi reiterated his country’s unwavering stance on the Palestinian issue, stressing that the solution to the Palestinian cause lies in Palestine, according to Jordan’s official news agency, Petra.

This came during in-depth discussions with the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Sigrid Kaag.

Safadi highlighted that regional security and stability depend on the realization of Palestinian rights through the establishment of an independent, sovereign state alongside Israel, based on international law and legitimacy.

Safadi emphasized Jordan's unwavering commitment to supporting Palestinian presence on their land, linking this to ongoing Gaza reconstruction efforts.

"Our position on the two-state solution as the path to peace is unchangeable, as is our rejection of displacement," he said, emphasizing that these views are not just policies but vital components for maintaining regional stability.

He stressed that addressing the Palestinian issue in a just manner that guarantees their rights is the only way to achieve the regional security that has long eluded the area.

"This is not just an unshakeable Jordanian position, but a necessity for achieving the security and stability we all seek," Safadi added.

Safadi also reaffirmed that Jordan’s reconstruction efforts in Gaza would persist until conditions worthy of Palestinian life are established following all the suffering, destruction, and loss of life.

"The peace we seek, which the region deserves and ensures security and stability, must be acceptable to peoples, fulfilling their rights, specifically the Palestinian people's right to live freely and with dignity on their national soil," he emphasized.

The minister outlined immediate priorities, including securing a lasting ceasefire, ensuring the continuous flow of aid, alleviating Gaza’s suffering, and launching joint peace efforts that guarantee Palestinian rights. He underscored King Abdullah II’s ongoing leadership in mobilizing international efforts for a just peace

Kaag praised Jordan’s role in facilitating aid to Gaza through the Jordanian corridor, noting that UN operations have continued through this route with unwavering support from the Jordanian government.

She reaffirmed the UN's commitment to advancing a clear path toward establishing a viable Palestinian state alongside Israel, despite the current humanitarian challenges in Gaza.

The discussions centered on strengthening cooperation between the UN and Jordan to enhance humanitarian aid delivery and further the peace process based on established international principles.
