NEW YORK, January, 23, 2024 (WAFA) – The Director-General of the International Organization for Migration, Amy Pope, stressed the need for a sustainable ceasefire in Gaza so that the international community can deliver the necessary humanitarian aid to the population.
This came in a press interview on the sidelines of Pope's participation in the 55th annual meetings of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, in which she addressed the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
Pope called for ensuring the strong support of the international community for the ceasefire and defending its implementation and continuation, stressing that without a ceasefire we will not be able to deliver aid to Gaza.
She stressed the importance of achieving a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, confirming that humanitarian needs in the region have reached "astronomical levels."
