JERUSALEM, January 20, 2025 (WAFA) –  French Consul General in Jerusalem Nicolas Kassianides stressed that Israeli colonization is illegal under international law and poses a serious threat to the two-state solution.

The French Consul said during the honoring of journalist Basil Adra, winner of the Anna Politkovskaya-Arman Soldin Award for Courage in Journalism in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, on Monday, that colonization is linked to acts of violence on the ground that require continued mobilization of the international community, which has shown a clear position by imposing sanctions on the colonists who commit these violations.

He renewed France's commitment to continue its efforts to support justice and peace in the region, and to strengthen the voice of journalistic courage in the face of challenges.

Adra was awarded the award in recognition of his distinguished work through the film "No Other Land", which highlights the daily suffering of civilians in the West Bank as a result of Israeli violations, especially home demolitions, forced displacement and colonial expansion.

The French Consulate explained in a press release that this step comes as an expression of France's support for bold journalistic work that exposes the excesses of colonization, in line with its firm position on the Palestinian issue.
