Israeli bombing of al-Mawasi kills 17 Palestinians, injures others

GAZA, December 4, 2024 (WAFA) – Israeli bombing of al-Mawasi area, northwest of Khan Younes city, in the southern genocide-stricken Gaza Strip Wednesday evening killed at least 17 Palestinians and injured others, according to local sources.

They said that Israeli aerial bombardment targeted makeshift camps for displaced Palestinians in the so-called Israeli-designated "humanitarian zone" in al-Mawasi, killing at least 17 people and injuring dozens.

Meanwhile, emergency and rescue crews retrieved the body of a fatality following Israeli bombardment that targeted the al-Gneinia neighbourhood, east of Rafah.

In the meantime, journalist Wael Abu Zeina was injured in the Israeli bombing of his house in Jabalia in the northern Strip, at a time when a number of people sustained injuries in Israeli artillery shelling that targeted the al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Strip.

Israel has proceeded with its genocidal offensive on the war-torn Strip in complete disregard of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which ordered Israel in a legally binding decision to halt its military offensive in Rafah, which may violate its obligations under the Genocide Convention.

Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza since October 7, killing at least of 44,532 Palestinians and injuring 105,538 others.

Moreover, at least 10,000 people are unaccounted for, presumed dead under the rubble of their homes throughout the Strip.

Palestinian and international organizations say that the majority of those killed and wounded are women and children.

The Israeli aggression has also resulted in the forceful displacement of nearly two million people from all over the Gaza Strip, with the vast majority of the displaced forced into the densely crowded southern city of Rafah near the border with Egypt – in what has become Palestine’s largest mass exodus since the 1948 Nakba.
