Italian FM: We are working to reach a ceasefire in Gaza

ROME, November 25, 2024 (WAFA) - Italian Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, said today that his country is working to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid there.

In a press statement during the MED Mediterranean Dialogues Conference in Rome, Tajani said his country is working to find a permanent solution to the "state of chaos" in the Middle East.

The Italian minister referred to the "Food for Gaza" initiative launched by Italy in cooperation with the relevant institutions at the United Nations, revealing that a plane loaded with Gaza-bound humanitarian aid will fly from Italy in the coming few days.

He explained that a ship will also depart soon from one of the Italian ports, loaded with 15 trucks and several tons of aid donated by Italy to the World Food Program to be distributed in the Gaza Strip.

In March, Italy and organizations affiliated with the United Nations launched the "Food for Gaza" initiative with the aim of better coordinating humanitarian aid directed to the sector, which has been subjected to a genocidal war carried out by Israel since October 2023.
