HEBRON, Wednesday, June 26, 2024 (WAFA) - Israeli occupation forces Wednesday demolished 11 homes and other facilities in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron.
Local sources told WAFA that the occupation forces raided Umm Al-Khair community in Masafer Yatta, and bulldozed 11 houses and dwellings belonging to Al-Hathalin family, leaving more than 50 individuals homeless.
The demolition process affected a house and four dwellings and their belongings owned by Eid Al-Hathalin, with an area of more than 300 square meters, two houses and five residences belonging to Yasser Al-Hathlin, with an area of more than 400 square metres, in addition to a number of facilities, including a room designated for the electricity network feeding the community, which led to a power outage from the citizens’ homes.
The occupation forces also demolished the tent which was owned by slain Palestinian Suleiman Al-Hathalin, which had been erected for more than 50 years, and which was adjacent to Carmel colony.
Al-Hathalin's tent served as a symbol of the steadfastness of the Palestinians in those areas in the face of the Israeli occupation and its colonial projects.
Additionally, the forces demolished large numbers of solar cells and water tanks, and a number of fences, as lands were bulldozed, and trees were uprooted.
In Khallet Amira, east of Yatta, the occupation forces demolished two tents owned by Ibrahim Fansha, before withdrawing from that area.
B'Tselem researcher Nasr Nawaj'a told WAFA correspondent that today the occupation forces demolished and bulldozed approximately a third of the Umm al-Khair community in Masafer Yatta, which includes more than 30 houses and dwellings, adding that the Israeli occupation forces seek to demolish them and displace their owners in favor of the colonizers.
He added that demolition operations have increased significantly recently, noting that this comes in the context of a plan being implemented by the Israeli extreme right in the Israeli government, to appease the colonizers and bring about geographic and demographic changes in that region and other areas of the West Bank, in favor of the annexation project that the extreme right-wing leaders seek to implement.
