The number of Palestinians killed in Israeli bombardment on Gaza climbs to 40

GAZA, Saturday, June 22, 2024 (WAFA) – The number of Palestinians killed in Israeli bombardment on several neighborhoods of Gaza City today climbed to at least 40, according to the Anadolu Agency.

The agency reported a Civil Defense spokesperson saying that the Israeli occupation forces bombed several inhabited residential buildings in several neighbourhoods of the city, resulting in killing of at least 40 people, including women and children, and injuring dozens others.

The agency also reported him saying that an untold number of people are trapped in rubble or missing.

The Civil Defense spokesperson added that Israeli warplanes destroyed residential buildings in the Shuja'iyya and Tuffah neighbourhoods as well as in the Beach refugee camp, locally known as Shati, the third largest of the Gaza Strip’s eight refugee camps, and one of the most crowded.

He pointed out that Civil Defense and rescue teams were searching for the missing people in the rubble of devastated buildings and houses using their limited capabilities.

Tried before the International Court of Justice for genocide against Palestinians, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza since October 7, killing at least 37,551 Palestinians and injuring over 85,911 others.

Moreover, approximately 10,000 people are unaccounted for, presumed dead under the rubble of their homes throughout the Strip.

Palestinian and international organizations say that the majority of those killed and wounded are women and children.

The Israeli aggression has also resulted in the forceful displacement of nearly two million people from all over the Gaza Strip, with the vast majority of the displaced forced into the densely crowded southern city of Rafah near the border with Egypt – in what has become Palestine’s largest mass exodus since the 1948 Nakba.
