AMMAN, Tuesday, June 11, 2024 (WAFA) – The Jordanian Ministry today welcomed the adoption by the UN Security Council of a resolution calling for an immediate and complete ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the complete withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces from the Gaza Strip, and the return of the displaced to their homes and neighborhoods throughout the Gaza Strip.
The Ministry said in a statement that it praised the resolution’s rejection of attempts to impose demographic or geographic change in the Strip, and reaffirmed its commitment to the two-state solution as a way to achieve peace.
Ministry spokesman Sufyan Al-Qudah stressed the importance of implementing this decision, which is consistent with the rules of international law and the principles on which the United Nations was founded, and represents the international will calling for stopping the onslaught on the Strip, ensuring the protection of civilians, and delivering adequate and sustainable humanitarian aid to all parts of the Strip.
Al-Qudah stressed the necessity of implementing its provisions related to the return of civilians to their homes and neighborhoods in all areas of Gaza, including the north, and the complete withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces from the Strip.
He called on the judges to oblige Israel to comply with the rules of international law and international humanitarian law and to stop its senseless war on the Gaza Strip, whose people are suffering from an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression against it since October 7.
He reiterated the importance of launching a reconstruction process in Gaza, within the framework of a comprehensive plan to implement the two-state solution, which embodies an independent, sovereign Palestinian state along the lines of June 4, 1967, with occupied Jerusalem as its capital.
