Prisoners’ institutions obtain approval to visit Gaza’s detainees next July

GAZA, Monday, June 10, 2024 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) and the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs said that they have obtained approval from the Israeli occupation authorities to visit detainees in the Gaza Strip next July.

They said in a joint statement, that the Commission’s and the Club’s lawyers made every possible effort to reveal the fate of Gaza detainees, “we have obtained approval to visit the detainees in Gaza next July.” However, this approval remains subject to any amendments or developments that may occur, in light of the significant restrictions imposed by the occupation on Gaza detainees and on the work of human rights institutions.”

It is noteworthy that the brutal aggression waged against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip since October 7 was accompanied by mass detention campaigns along with the crime of forced disappearance committed against them.

PPS and the Commission said regarding the crime of forced disappearance "until this moment, the occupation refuses to reveal the names of the detainees or any data related to them, as well as their living and health conditions, and prevented legal teams from visiting them."

"They were detained in hidden detention centers and prisons, the Commission and PPS added, "the detainees were further subjected to all forms of maltreatment and torture, which led to hundreds of detainees sustaining injuries, burns, fractures and amputations."
