JERUSALEM, Wednesday, October 12, 2022 (WAFA) – Israeli forces tonight attacked a sit-in held near the Shufat military checkpoint in protest against the Israeli army’s tight closure and collective punishment policy against Shufat refugee camp and nearby Anata town.
Forces attacked the sit-in with tear gas canisters, and stun grenades, injuring the adviser to the Presidential Office for Jerusalem Affairs, Ahmed Al Ruwaidi, with a stun grenade. Forces also detained two youths.
Camp residents yesterday declared civil disobedience against the cruel Israeli collective punishment policy against more than 130,000 people who live in the camp and Anata and went out in protests and demonstrations, some of which were attacked by the Israeli forces.
Jerusalem and several West Bank cities and towns today observed a general strike in protest against the Israeli measures in and in support of Shufat refugee camp and Anata.
