JERUSALEM, Wednesday, February 23, 2022 (WAFA) – Less than 24 hours after an Israeli court has frozen an order to evict the Palestinian Salem family from its home in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in occupied East Jerusalem, Itamar Bin Gvir, an Israeli right-wing and fascist member of the parliament, the Knesset, returned to the neighborhood to once again incite against its residents and provoke violence, according to WAFA correspondent.
A court yesterday froze the eviction order of the Salem family that was supposed to take effect next month following an appeal by the family.
The eviction order that was intended to hand the family’s home and land to Jewish settlers provoked widespread protests in the neighborhood, aggravated as well by the presence of Ben Gvir, an Arab hater, at the doorstep of the Salem family where he set up a makeshift office last week.
Palestinian residents of the neighborhood and supporters kept a vigil to protect the Salem family against attacks by settlers and were often confronted and abused by police who protected the settlers and provided them with the space to keep presence while setting up barricades and closing roads to keep Palestinians out.
WAFA correspondent said police today attacked two Palestinian activists, one of them uses crutches for movement who was taken to hospital, and detained the second.
